Introduction

Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG), Egypt’s leading real estate developer, embarked on a transformative digital journey to enhance the living experience for millions of residents across its communities. Recognizing the need for a unified digital ecosystem, TMG partnered with Robusta Technology Group (RTG) to develop an all-in-one community app that streamlines essential services, improves resident engagement, and introduces a seamless digital experience. Over an intensive 8-month period, our team developed the TMG Life app to streamline essential services and improve the overall living experience, marking a significant step in TMG’s digital transformation journey and redefining community living in Egypt.

Listed as No. 8 in Forbes' Top 50 Listed Companies in Egypt, TMG is a powerhouse in real estate development with a vast portfolio spread across diverse communities. Despite its leadership in real estate, TMG faced a critical gap: the absence of a unified digital platform to connect and serve its extensive resident base. Legacy processes and manual systems had long hindered efficient service delivery and community engagement, necessitating a comprehensive digital solution. To maintain its leadership position and improve resident satisfaction, TMG sought a holistic digital solution to modernize operations, enhance security, and create more meaningful community interactions.

Challenges Faced

TMG faced several challenges in its digital transformation journey. Without a unified platform, residents across its properties lacked a centralized system to manage payments, services, and activities. Unlike smaller developments, TMG's massive community size required a solution capable of accommodating millions of users. Additionally, the app needed to cater to a diverse range of personas, including families, individuals, businesses, and visitors, each with unique needs. Many existing processes, such as issuing gate passes, handling maintenance requests, and processing bill payments, were still manual, leading to inefficiencies and delays. Furthermore, residents required a more secure and seamless way to access their homes and community services, highlighting the need for an integrated, digital-first approach that could validate users while making their experience frictionless and efficient.

Solutions Implemented

RTG implemented a comprehensive digital solution by developing the TMG Life App, an all-in-one platform designed to provide customized services based on users’ locations and specific needs. To ensure the app effectively addressed the diverse requirements of TMG’s vast community, RTG conducted extensive user research and personalization efforts. This involved on-site discussions with residents to identify key pain points, interviews with various departments to align business objectives, and user persona mapping to tailor features for different resident types. By deeply understanding the needs of TMG’s communities, RTG was able to create a platform that enhances convenience, engagement, and overall user satisfaction.

Results Achieved

After eight months of dedicated development, the TMG Life application was successfully launched, transforming the digital experience for millions of TMG residents. The platform has significantly improved security and accessibility, allowing residents to enter their properties seamlessly using QR code-based gate access. Maintenance requests are now processed more efficiently, ensuring faster issue resolution and higher resident satisfaction. The app has also driven greater community engagement, making it easier for users to discover and participate in events and activities. Additionally, operational efficiency has improved by reducing reliance on manual processes and paperwork. TMG has made major strides by digitizing and centralizing old contract data that was previously fragmented or unregistered, a move that not only improves internal efficiency but also enhances the residents' property management experience. With an intuitive interface and simplified navigation, the app has empowered users to manage bills, access services, and stay connected to their communities from a single platform. Most importantly, this launch sets the stage for future expansion, with plans to interconnect multiple TMG communities, further enhancing digital connectivity and convenience for residents.

Major Innovation: NFC Electricity Recharge

As part of its continuous innovation journey, TMG and RTG introduced NFC-based electricity recharging through the TMG Life app: a first-of-its-kind launch in Egypt and the first digital presence for TMG’s electricity company. Replacing traditional, decentralized payment processes with a modern, centralized MVP solution, the NFC feature solves a long-standing challenge for residents in Madinaty and Al Rehab, who previously had to wait in queues or rely on limited operating hours. Now, users can recharge electricity anytime, anywhere, directly from the app without third-party platforms. For Madinaty, the feature is custom-built and deeply integrated with three exclusive local service providers, creating a seamless cycle of electricity payments and access control. Fully embedded within the TMG Life app, this innovation eliminates in-person visits, offers 24/7 availability, and enhances security while maintaining a consistent user journey. By combining convenience, security, and localized customization, the NFC update strengthens TMG Life’s role as the go-to digital hub for residents and sets a new benchmark for smart community utilities management in Egypt.
