Oriental Weavers operates one of the largest rug and carpet catalogs in the world — a depth of choice that is a commercial strength but a usability challenge online. Customers landing on the e-commerce platform faced large product catalogs that were difficult to navigate manually, with no guided way to narrow thousands of options down to the few rugs that actually suited their room, space, and style. The browsing journey was cumbersome, product discovery was slow, and the mobile experience left engagement on the table. Oriental Weavers needed a partner to transform the shopping experience into something modern, intuitive, and customer-centric — without rebuilding the underlying Magento platform from scratch.
Over 2.5 months, RTG delivered a comprehensive UX/UI transformation of Oriental Weavers' Magento e-commerce platform, working in an Agile framework. The team redesigned the interface and simplified navigation across the entire site, then designed and built the platform's standout feature: the Rug Finder. This interactive, guided discovery experience walks customers through a short series of questions — room type, rug size, preferred colors and styles — and dynamically recommends the most relevant rugs from the catalog. Designed specifically for Oriental Weavers' customer journey and catalog structure, the Rug Finder turns an overwhelming catalog into a personalised, decision-friendly journey from discovery to checkout.
